Hillsboro Inlet Park – A Hidden Gem

Grab a book or a picnic (or both) and head to Hillsboro Inlet Park. It’s not a large park but I think it has one of the best waterfront views around. Located on the east side of A1A just before you cross over the Hillsboro Bridge, veer to the right into the parking lot.

This park sits on the Hillsboro Inlet with views of the bridge, the Hillsboro Lighthouse and all the boats that come and go and the ocean beyond. It’s a quiet place with people coming and going all the time. The park is frequented by people fishing off the small dock/pier that juts out into the water, bicyclists, and people just looking for a quiet place with extraordinary views. It’s a great place to sit back, relax and watch the beautiful boats that come and go as they wait for the opening of the draw bridge to the Intracoastal Waterway.

The facilities include swings and a playground for kids, restroom facilities, plenty of picnic tables under the palms, park benches, barbeque grills and a gazebo.

The park is also home to the Hillsboro Lighthouse Museum, a Pompano Beach Water Taxi stop, one of the Pompano Fish uniquely painted by winning artists and a plaque commemorating the Hillsboro Lighthouse keepers through the years.

It’s a quick, easy place to relax and get a few great lighthouse shots for your Facebook posts.

Insider tip: Don’t forget to pay for your parking. The city does monitor it… i.e. writes parking tickets.
