I’m going to let you in on some of greatest local places for breakfast. They’re generally small, local and serve yummy breakfasts – each with a little different atmosphere. And while there are may places to choose from, these are a few of my personal favorites in no particular order. And I call them dive-y little places with pure affection.
Being a Jersey girl, first on the list is the Dandee Donut Factory. And the reason why is the NJ pork roll sandwiches they serve. As a Jersey-ite till the age of 8, I have fond memories of my visits to my grandparents house with breakfast always including “Taylor Ham” sandwiches. Donuts are the second reason to frequent Dandee. All freshly made in-house, try from a choice of 50 different varieties. Diners can sit at the counter, a few small tables and patio seating. And they are the only place in town that I know is open 24 hours a day serving the breakfast and lunch menus.
Next on my list is Cypress Nook. This quaint little place with German cuisine has been pulling in crowds since I was a kid. And on the weekends, I suggest getting there early or choosing to dine outside on picnic tables under umbrellas.
Nelson’s Diner is an Elvis themed diner that serves diner staples that everyone loves. Eggs, pancakes, biscuits, waffles – comfort food at its best. Need I say more? And Lester’s Diner, a bit bigger than Nelson’s but with a long history in the area and serve all your diner favorites. The atmosphere is diner, the service team experienced and a good place for a quick in and out if you’re in hurry but want a sit down meal.
I invite you to check them all out while you’re here. More on our Eat & Drink pages.
